Steel Trade Measure
Minister updates Parliament
Peter Kyle, the Science and Technology Secretary, will make a ministerial statement to the Commons about a steel trade measure. The statement will set out the government's position on trade policy affecting the UK steel sector, likely in response to tariffs, trade negotiations, or industrial support measures. This is an opportunity for MPs to question the government on its strategy to protect and support British steelmaking.
Steel is a strategic industry underpinning UK manufacturing and construction. The statement signals government action on trade terms affecting thousands of jobs and dozens of sites across the country. How ministers respond to tariff threats or trade pressure will shape competitiveness, investment decisions, and employment in steel-dependent regions.
Ministerial statements draw questions from across the House — any MP may participate, so we don't show a predicted interest list.
