Transport links for small towns

Backbench debate (separate chamber, no votes)

Andy MacNae (Labour, Rossendale and Darwen) is raising in Westminster Hall the state of transport connections to and within small towns. The debate will explore whether small towns have adequate public transport links and connectivity to enable economic activity, service provision, and quality of life—or whether isolation from transport networks is holding them back.

Small towns across the country depend on reliable transport to attract businesses, retain residents, and connect to larger employment and service hubs. Poor connectivity can drive decline and worsen regional inequality. This debate probes whether the government's priorities and funding allocate fairly to smaller settlements or concentrate on cities.
