19 May 2026TransportmeasuredWe must learn lessons from HS2 as we need new rail infrastructure. Spades were in the ground before the project had been fully designed & tunnelling was done because of political pressure. It broke the mantra of major projects, which is 'plan slow and build fast'. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
15 May 2026Health & NHSmeasuredThere is a lot more to do & while constituents tell me that their experience is getting better I know that there is still more to do, and more progress to make. We should not forget the difference that a Labour Government can make & we can't take this progress for granted.
15 May 2026Health & NHScelebratoryNHS waiting times are continuing to fall- thanks to the hard work by NHS staff & the investment that the Labour Government have put into our NHS. Extra pay for NHS staff and more investment in equipment & diagnostics is all making a big difference. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...
13 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredYou can read my full statement below. 4/4 www.ruthcadbury.org/post/stateme...
13 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredThe local election results both across London and across England were clearly poor for the Labour Party. It is important that we reflect on this, listen and take serious efforts to fix the problems that were behind these poor results. 3/4
13 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredI am not clear what would be achieved by changing leader, nor what they would do differently, or change that would tackle the wider economic and political issues facing the UK right now. 2/4
13 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredI do not believe that now is the right time to change Prime Minister, nor do I believe that there is an obvious successor who could step in at short notice in the event that the Prime Minister is forced to resign. See below for my full statement... 1/4
5 May 2026Culture & CommunitymeasuredI wrote this about Ramadan as for the first time since becoming an MP I was being criticised for attending Iftars & I wanted to explain why it is important, and why religious tolerance matters. hounslowherald.com/ruth-cadbury...
5 May 2026Technology & DigitalmeasuredSo much of this is being helped by social media; specifically the amount of AI slop videos on Facebook (often ironically they are ran from other countries & push an anti-immigration message to increase views & increase their ad revenue)
5 May 2026ImmigrationangryAnd the post received a flood of racist comments- many from people with their photo and name easily identifiable (often photos of their families) Since the 1970s Hounslow always had councillors of different faiths & races- in all parties. We are a multi-cultural borough...
5 May 2026ImmigrationangryOne person on the doorstep told me they would have turned away the small number of Jewish refugees the UK accepted before WW2, I've seen constituents make racist comments about council staff who were trying to assist them and recently I put up a picture with some candidates running for council...
5 May 2026Culture & CommunitymeasuredI have noticed on my Facebook posts, in my mailbag & on the doorstep that people are very happy to use openly racist and demonising language. People have always held these views but the willingness and pride to do so openly is what has changed...
5 May 2026Culture & Communitymeasured''What defeats racism is the willingness of civic society and the state to proselytise against it. It is weakened when people feel ashamed to express racist statements in public'' A thoughtful column from @stephenkb.bsky.social which touches upon something I have noticed www.ft.com/content/5cdf...
1 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredNext week in Hounslow we face the risk of a Reform-led coalition of chaos; which is why I will be out campaigning over the next week reminding voters both of our Labour councils strong record of delivery & the need to stop Reform.
1 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredBeing in local Government is hard work & many standing for Reform are doing so out of an interest in national politics (a lot of their leaflets have mentioned immigration) It's no surprise that we've seen a lot of reform councillors enter office and either resign or switch parties.
1 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredA really good piece on the reality of Reform ran councils. It was no surprise that in many places they ran on cutting council tax & 'wasteful' spending- only to enter office, find there was little waste & then they had to increase council tax. www.ft.com/content/3c05...
28 Apr 2026Housing & PlanningcelebratoryThere is a lot in this policy announcement which is really good and will make a big difference to protect social & council housing and ensure that we have truly affordable housing for people who need it. www.gov.uk/government/n...
28 Apr 2026Housing & PlanningcelebratoryI'm really pleased the Labour Government are fixing one of Thatcher's most damaging policies & sorting out the rules around right to buy, Including ''A 35-year new build exemption period so new social homes cannot be sold under Right to Buy for 35 years after they are built.''
24 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingmeasuredPoliticians and elected officials have a really important role in being clear, honest & careful with our language around issues such as these. As someone who represents a diverse corner of West London it's a responsibility I take seriously and I hope that Zack reflects on these comments.
24 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingmeasuredZack said, ''Now, there’s a conversation to be had about whether it’s a perception of unsafety or whether it’s actual unsafety, but neither are acceptable.'' This seems to ignore the recent attacks we have witnessed & the documented increase in hate crime against Jews over the recent years.
24 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingdefensiveI was very surprised & slightly shocked by these comments from Zack Polanski. I know from listening to Jewish constituents & community organisations across London that there is a very real threat including to Jewish organisations such as schools www.jewishnews.co.uk/fury-as-zack...
15 Apr 2026Health & NHScelebratoryReally pleased to see the Government are renewing the women's health strategy & making changes to improve women's experience on the NHS. I've heard from so many women locally who've been let down and faced huge waits for care so these changes are much needed. www.gov.uk/government/n...
8 Apr 2026Culture & CommunitymeasuredGreat to see London Mayor Sadiq Khan putting funding back into youth clubs so every Borough has a late night youth club. It's sad but not surprising to see the Conservatives criticise this announcement after they cut the funding to so many youth clubs. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
8 Apr 2026Local GovernmentcelebratoryI had a wonderful Tooting welcome yesterday when I went over to support the @wandsworthlabour.bsky.social team, ensuring @jackmayorcas.bsky.social and Lizzie Dobres are elected to Wandsworth Council in the crucial swing ward - Trinity.
7 Apr 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredIn case anyone in Hounslow gets a cold call from Reform UK.... www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
7 Apr 2026Energy & Net ZeromeasuredWe must get off the fossil fuel rollercoaster. I have lived through 3 oil shocks in my life; these cause recessions, inflation & huge instability across the globe. This week I've written for the Hounslow Herald about why we need to get off this rollercoaster. hounslowherald.com/ruth-cadbury...
2 Apr 2026Housing & PlanningangryIt was a huge act of state failure that ended with the deaths of 72 people. 72 people. How on earth can Reform claim to want to Govern Britain when this is their attitude to the deaths of 72 people?
2 Apr 2026Housing & PlanningmeasuredGrenfell was a sign of how the state stripped back building safety regulations, took powers away from local authorities (who then had lacked the power & ability to regulate building safety) and ignored warnings from a Coroner after a deadly fire in 2009.
2 Apr 2026Housing & PlanningangrySimon Dudley then goes on to compare the cladding crisis to car deaths. But ultimately what this ignores is that we spent 50 years making cars safer but from 1979-2016 we stripped back regulation of high rise buildings.
2 Apr 2026Housing & PlanningangryThese are shocking comments. “That was a tragedy. It was a failure,” ...but he doesn’t believe the current regulatory regime is proportionate. “Sadly, you know, everyone dies in the end. It’s just how you go, right?” he says'' www.insidehousing.co.uk/insight/excl...
