22 May 2026EducationcelebratoryTo be switched on, curious and knowledgable are such valuable assets in life, so it fills me with so much pride when I see the Gen Alphas of South Cotswolds have all of those traits in spades. I can't wait to carry on visiting as many schools as I can over the coming years. 2/2
22 May 2026EducationcelebratoryI had the pleasure of visiting a primary school in my constituency today to give a talk and answer questions. Seeing how engaged and enthusiastic the children are when it comes to politics never fails to give me hope. Year 5s asking about Lords reforms has got to impress! 1/2
22 May 2026TransportmeasuredIt’s why I have been campaigning in Westminster for better funding and long term security for local public transport since becoming an MP. I won’t stop while I know my constituents are struggling. #publictransport #buses #rural #politics #mp
22 May 2026TransportempatheticWith Rachel Reeves announcing free bus travel for children 5-15, and a Guardian article this week highlighting how people without cars can struggle to make basic trips for food in the constituency, I know how hard it can be to get where you want.
21 May 2026Health & NHScelebratoryIt was fantastic to see the unanimous support for @paulcotswolds.bsky.social motion calling for the NHS to protect services at local hospitals. We have an action day on Saturday for anyone wanting to come and sign our petition pushing for protections for Cirencester Hospital.
21 May 2026TransportmeasuredIn rural areas, public transport is vital for those that don’t have access to a car, yet we see services reducing in places that need them desperately. Everyone deserves to feel secure in their ability to reach the services they need in their day-to-day life. 2/2
21 May 2026TransportmeasuredYesterday Rachel Reeves announced free bus travel for children aged 5-15 over the summer. Though this is a welcome policy that will slightly ease financial pressures on families, it’s hard to get excited when local transport can be so hard to access for many in the constituency. 1/2
20 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredIf you had the opportunity to put one thing into British law - an opportunity that any MP can get through the selection of Private Members Bills that are happening tomorrow - what would you choose? Comment below! #laws #parliament #mp #pmb #westminster
19 May 2026Agriculture & Rural EconomymeasuredThe Good Food Bill that we have been pushing for is vital for exactly the reasons laid out below. Rural communities can’t afford further reductions in what can already be sparse access to groceries. Farmers need more support from government. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...
18 May 2026TransportmeasuredThe renationalisation of railways has been one of the key policies in this Government’s manifesto. Clearly, the system that we have had in the recent past has failed passengers. #itv #debate #railways #travel #mp
18 May 2026EnvironmentmeasuredHere were my main thoughts on the King’s Speech, which I voiced in the ITV debate last week. Environmental collapse is not a problem you can ignore. Having an approach backed by solid policy is the only way to protect our future. #kingsspeech #environment #mp #itv #debate
15 May 2026Utilities & WatermeasuredIt has been clear for a long time that the privatisation of water companies has failed this country. We all deserve better. A system built for us, not CEOs and shareholders. #water #mp #ITV #debate #fyp
15 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredHere is what I had to say on the recent local election results while on last nights ITV West Country Debate. The full show is now on ITV X and YouTube.
15 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredThe May 2026 edition of The West Country Debate I took part in yesterday is available on ITV X for anyone wanting to catch up. The past week has seen a lot happen in the world of politics, from local elections to the King’s Speech and Keir Starmer’s future - a lot was covered.
14 May 2026EnvironmentmeasuredWatch my reply to the King's Speech. Fundamentally, I found it to be disappointing, as it refused to acknowledge the environmental crisis that constituencies similar to mine, in the South Cotswolds, are facing. youtu.be/apd0xbW09FI
13 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredMy immediate thoughts after a disappointing King’s Speech. #westminster #mp #parliament #government
12 May 2026Housing & Planningmeasured🏡 Housing targets matter, but in rural communities like ours, it’s not just about hitting numbers. It’s about building the right homes, in the right places, in a way that protects the character, infrastructure, and sustainability of our villages for generations to come.
11 May 2026Cost of LivingangryThis government must start to focus on rebuilding our country, not trying to restart their party, again, and again, and again. 7/7
11 May 2026Cost of LivingangryThe people of the South Cotswolds and the rest of the country want the cost-of-living crisis dealt with, not speeches begging Labour MPs for their support. People want leaders in our country to make decisions which will help them, not decisions to help them to survive coups. 6/7
11 May 2026Tax & Public FinancesmeasuredBoth policies, among others, affected the people of the South Cotswolds and the fact that the PM u-turned on them (although not fully on the Family Farm Tax) makes the government look like they don’t know what they’re doing. 5/7
11 May 2026Tax & Public FinancesangryUltimately, this government has lost the trust of the people of this country. This happened as soon as they scrapped the Winter Fuel Allowance and placed the Family Farm Tax on hardworking farmers in their first few months of governance. 4/7
11 May 2026Economy & Jobs (General)measuredWe know that Brexit has negatively affected the UK economy which is why the Liberal Democrats are calling for the UK to re-enter the customs union. This is the correct economic decision if we want to jumpstart our economy. It was disappointing to not hear the Prime Minister call for this. 3/7
11 May 2026MP & Parliamentmeasured...they had been floated around in the media for many months before the disastrous local elections for the government. So, where will the change be coming from? The PM announced that the UK needs a stronger relationship with Europe, a restatement of what he’s been saying for months. 2/7
11 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredKeir Starmer’s speech today was aimed at Labour MPs, urging them to back him, rather than a speech to reassure the people of the United Kingdom that his government is working for them. The Prime Minister announced some policies, but many of these weren’t new... 1/7
8 May 2026Local GovernmentcelebratoryAs results will continue to come in well into tomorrow, it’s important to highlight how good they have been. Controlling councils in Portsmouth and Stockport amongst a record-breaking 8th consecutive year of local election gains… the good news will keep coming, but what a start!
8 May 2026EnvironmentcelebratoryI think it’s safe to say for someone still so active at 100 there is perhaps a hint of humility within him. Happy 100th birthday to the most important environmental advocates of our lives. I encourage anyone to listen to this podcast to appreciate Sir David’s Wisdom: shows.acast.com/outrage-opti...
7 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredToday, many people across the country have the chance to vote in local elections. These are an opportunity to change who is working for you at a local level, which is vital for the future of each of our communities are governed. If you can, be sure to get out and vote!
6 May 2026Health & NHScelebratoryThis wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless work of many local residents. The local GP, Sherston Parish Council and Wiltshire councillors have been a core part of what has made this campaign successful and I thank them all for their time and concern.
6 May 2026Health & NHSmeasuredI finally met with Stephen Kinnock, the Government’s Minister for Care. He has committed to pressing the ICB for an urgent guarantee that there will be funding for a new surgery in Sherston. Local health care is crucial to every community and making sure everyone has access is vital.
30 Apr 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryWith Parliament now prorogued until the state opening, it’s hard not to reflect on my first parliamentary session. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, in the South Cotswolds and in Westminster, but I am also focussed on what lays ahead; for myself, my constituency and my country.
