21 Nov 2024Public Accounts Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 349)

Other than the fact that I try to use the A303, no. My constituency is Tiverton and Minehead, and the A303 is one of the roads that one might choose to get to London on. The issue around Stonehenge has been a problem for a very long time. I wondered where we are in terms of the tunnel, the road and things like that.

I am flabbergasted. I find the whole thing flabbergasting, to be honest. I am learning.

18 Nov 2024Public Accounts Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 353)

I have one quick question, but if I could just give you some feedback from my constituency, where there is a particularly high level of SEN and particularly poor provision, my constituents and their parents are crying out for this across sectors—social services, schools and the NHS. You are not going to achieve it if y

18 Nov 2024Public Accounts Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 353)

Could I ask Susan Acland-Hood and Jonathan Marron, how are you improving your collective understanding of the reason for the increase in SEND support and the demand for EHCPs, and what this means for the future? Do you have a prognosis that you can use the data that you have now? I accept that it is a very complex area

4 Nov 2024 Budget: Implications for Farming Communities

I have 1,600 farmers in my constituency. Some 432 farms will be affected by this silly idea, not to mention the families, their employees and the shopkeepers who rely on our rural economy. This policy is insensible, irrational and plain wrong in its interpretation of real life in our rural communities. It will be like

13 Oct 2024 Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill

Thank you for calling me to make my maiden speech, Madam Deputy Speaker. Before I do, may I commend Figen Murray and her family and friends for the excellent campaign they have continued, completely selflessly? I am sure it will save the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of people. They are a great example to us all

7 Oct 2024 Farming and Food Security

As the first ever female director of the National Farmers Union in 100 years, I think I can speak with some credibility here. I represent Tiverton and Minehead, which includes the Quantocks and Exmoor. I have to say, you have some chutzpah—my farmers tell me that you sold them down the river. I say to Government Member
