9 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredYesterday’s South Tyneside and Gateshead local election results are disappointing, and I know many of our good local councillors that lost their seats, it was a difficult day for all. It worries me about the future of our boroughs, both Gateshead and South Tyneside. (1/2)
8 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredWe have a new council that is inexperienced, and will have a steep learning curve, and need to actually now deliver for residents instead of stoking hate from the sidelines.
8 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredThis afternoon whilst at South Tyneside local election count I spoke to Shields Gazette about the incoming results. Our local election results make me worry for the future of the borough.
8 May 2026MP & ParliamentangrySo yes I do blame the leadership and yes I do think Keir needs to resign. The newly elected Reform councillors are going to have a steep learning curve and need to actually now deliver for residents instead of stoking hate from the sidelines.
8 May 2026MP & ParliamentdefensiveLocally I know I've delivered for the community but they're not seeing change quick enough and that is why we are where we are. Many of my colleagues and I have been trying to get the current Labour Leadership to listen and change direction, but they have refused to listen.
8 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredWe saw this coming from last years locals results, I heard it from constituents and on the doorsteps when I have been out and so far the results are telling us that people are disillusioned and not happy with Labour.
8 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredI've spent this morning at the counts in Gateshead and South Tyneside with hard working Councillors who lost their seats. This afternoon I spoke to @itvtynetees.bsky.social about our council election results so far.

1 May 2026EducationcelebratoryIt was inspiring to hear more about PlanBEE’s success across construction and rail, and the ways in which the programme is now being used as a model across the country.
