4 Apr 2026Cost of LivingcelebratoryI dropped off as much as I could to the Felling Food Network, Boldon Village Hall Foodbank, Hebburn Helps, Bede’s Helping Hands, Embells, and Community Corner and I want to thank all everyone who gives up their time to make sure this weekend is special
4 Apr 2026Cost of LivingempatheticHappy Saturday, I hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday weekend! Last week, I went to as many easter events as I could from schools to our foodbanks who of course should not be necessary, but they are and they do fabulous work making sure everyone gets an egg and can enjoy the fun.
4 Apr 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryI’ve really enjoyed the first few days of Recess from Parliament and have visited so many great businesses, care homes & schools, including Heworth Grange, Hebburn Town FC, Lishman’s Family Bakery, Springboard North East, Hebburn Helps, Out North East, Embells and Boldon & Cleadon community Library!
4 Apr 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryA hugely busy week in the constituency, filled with brilliant visits to businesses, schools & organisations! But of course I have continued working hard to support constituents with casework & below are just a few of this weeks wins If I can be of assistance do email kate.osborne.mp@parliament.uk
3 Apr 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratorySouth Tyneside's Good Friday Parade is a long established tradition and it is always great to see our local Cadets, Scout and Brownie groups and our Veterans march together. I was pleased to be there again this year and thank you to all who organised and participated, it was an excellent turnout
3 Apr 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryThese have been hugely successful and this is the 7th event, so if you're looking to connect with others in the community whilst having some great conversation and food you should go along! 👇
3 Apr 2026Culture & CommunitymeasuredTomorrow morning there is a community breakfast in partnership with the Dialogue Society at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Hebburn from 11am-1pm
2 Apr 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryReform are against NHS investment, against stronger protections for children online, and against free breakfast clubs in our schools. Only Labour will deliver for our communities, so on 7th May #VoteLabour
2 Apr 2026Local GovernmentcelebratoryGood to join Labour colleagues, North East Mayor Kim McGuinness and Jarrow and Gateshead East CLP Members and candidates on the Quayside today launching our Local Election campaign!
2 Apr 2026Culture & CommunityempatheticPassover is a time to reflect on the story of liberation, resilience and justice. Across Jarrow and Gateshead East, our communities continue to support those in need: providing care, solidarity, and social responsibility. Chag Pesach Sameach to all who are celebrating.
2 Apr 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryThere are two sessions tomorrow where families can go to meet the Easter Bunny, with a quiet session for SEND children from 10.30am-11am and open to all children from 11am-12pm so do head over if you're local!
2 Apr 2026EducationcelebratoryThe hub's location is perfect for parents who might have children at the nursery or day care next door, and I'm pleased this week the government has recommitted to similar provision nationwide, with over 200 Best Start Family Hubs opening across the country.
2 Apr 2026Cost of LivingcelebratoryI had lots of fun at Boldon Family Hub this week joining one of the Foundation of Light cookery courses. The sessions provide advice and practical guidance for cooking on a budget & it was lovely to meet young mums Ashleigh and Stephanie to hear how they have benefitted from new skills and recipes.
2 Apr 2026Cost of LivingcelebratoryVisited Boldon Community Food Store to deliver some Easter Eggs 🐣, and some other essentials they were running low on, the volunteers do a fantastic job supporting residents in Boldon If you're able to, please do consider donating!
2 Apr 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredI will be joining MPs in writing to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to once again demand we stop selling arms to Israel and to suspend trade agreements
2 Apr 2026Defence & SecurityangryWe must not look away from not only this abhorrent legislation but from what Israel is continuing to do to Gaza and dropping bombs on residential neighborhoods in Lebanon’s capital.
2 Apr 2026Defence & SecurityangryBut we need more than words. The reports of politicians wearing noose pins and posing with champagne after passing the legislation is frankly sickening. We must immediately impose widespread sanctions on Israel.
2 Apr 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredThe UN has rightly called for this awful and discriminatory policy to be immediately repealed. Our Govt has joined the foreign Ministers of Australia, Germany, France, Italy and New Zealand condemning both the death penalty law and that this law is designed to discriminate against Palestinians only
2 Apr 2026Defence & SecurityangryIsrael has approved the death penalty for Palestinians but not for Israelis who commit the same crime. Any use of the death penalty is of course wrong. Israel's law as well as being deeply discriminatory targeted at Palestinians is inconsistent with Israel’s international law obligations.
1 Apr 2026Jobs & EmploymentcelebratoryToday’s increase to the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage will give much needed pay rise to 2.7 million workers 💷 This is good news for working people – now let’s get on and deliver the New Deal for Working People in full✊
1 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingcelebratoryIt is sorely needed and will send a clear signal to men that sexist abuse, heckling women just for going about their daily lives is not and has never been acceptable - now they will be held to account for it.
1 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingmeasuredThe harassment offence will cover intentional harassment directed at someone because of their sex, obscene comments, threats of sexual violence and threatening invasions of personal space incl streets, parks, public transport, taxis and shops.
1 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingcelebratorySo I am pleased that our Govt is taking action to tackle VAWG with a new harassment offence introduced. The new police powers that are being brought forward will tackle intentional harassment, including obscene comments, threats of sexual violence and threatening invasions of personal space.
1 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingangryEnding violence against women & girls means changing the behaviour of those who set out to intimidate and harass. Too often we see women left to deal with harassment or forced into changing their behaviours to protect themselves, rather than targeting the men that intentionally abuse & target women
31 Mar 2026Culture & CommunityempatheticSending love and solidarity to my trans friends and allies today, we must not let hatred win. Happy Trans Day of Visibility!
31 Mar 2026Culture & CommunityempatheticI began my political life campaigning for LGBTQ+ equality and this is something I am as dedicated to today as I was in the 80’s, fighting back at the vile Section 28. I will continue speaking out in solidarity with our trans community because until we are all equal, none of us are.
31 Mar 2026Culture & CommunityangryWe are seeing rising hatred and attacks on our entire LGBTQ+ community with our trans siblings facing the brunt of this abuse. Transphobia has no place in our society, online, or in our politics. It is not acceptable nor should it ever be.
31 Mar 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryToday on #TransDayOfVisibility it is more important than ever to support and celebrate the trans community and raise awareness of the discrimination they face.
31 Mar 2026Social CarecelebratoryA really lovely visit to Bedewell Grange Care home to meet residents and see their musical theatre Mondays🎭 I had some great conversations with residents and a tour with Deputy Manager Denise: it was clear to see how happy residents are I also enjoyed the performance of When I'm Cleaning Windows!🎶
31 Mar 2026EducationcelebratorySpringboard are a huge local asset and are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. They want to hear from former learners - if you did any training with them over the years, please do get in touch with them, or comment below!
