It also follows, because the FCA is full of human beings, that that judgment may sometimes turn out to be less than ideal in retrospect and that some firms that were not supervised intensively could have done with a bit more intensive supervision. It also follows that the FCA does not guarantee that any firm is well ru

25 Mar 2025Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

Or the last, for that matter.

If I am sitting in Shettleston on a Friday night, I do not go looking at the FCA register.

Crypto, and just more generally. I am mindful of time, so we should keep the responses short, please.

25 Mar 2025Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

Only on a Sunday morning. If I see on a website that a firm is authorised by the FCA, would you agree that it does not follow that the FCA endorses what that firm sells as a great product? Do you also agree that it does not follow that everything that that firm does is regulated by the FCA?

24 Mar 2025 Planning and Infrastructure Bill

Thank you very much, Madam Deputy Speaker. As a Glasgow MP, I emphasise how important this Bill is for Scotland and Scotland’s economy. We have huge opportunities in the form of offshore wind and floating wind, but those opportunities depend on the development of transmission infrastructure in England. This Bill will h

Do you think there is a difference between being an arm’s‑length private sector investor in property, so a REIT or a property investment trust, and being a public sector investor? Does it demand a different approach to environmental stewardship, investment risk and decision-making?

Looking to the end of your first year at the Crown Estate, what would be the three things you would want to achieve?

19 Mar 2025Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 683)

Mr Lewis, as you are working out what the Crown Estate needs to do over the next wee while, to what extent will you be led by the chief executive, Mr Labbad? How much are you going to get your hands on that as a question?

Glasgow’s Muslim community is characterised by its kindness and public service. Last weekend, I visited my friends at the Hillview Islamic and education centre in Shettleston, and met the convenor of the Muslim Council of Scotland, Dr Muhammad Adrees. I heard about terrible incidents of anti-Muslim hatred and crimes in
