23 May 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryI was delighted to open the Colleton Primary School’s May Fayre, which raised an incredible £4,000 in support of the school. I also joined the CEO of Walk the Walk for a 10km walk to help raise awareness of breast cancer and support the charity’s work. Here’s what else I’ve been doing this week:
22 May 2026Health & NHSmeasuredWith 15,000 people living with arthritis in my constituency, I’m supporting @arthritisukorg in arthritis awareness month to promote the importance of early diagnosis – otherwise it can increase NHS costs, hurt the economy, and leave patients in pain for longer
20 May 2026EducationcelebratoryOver the weekend, I was delighted to open Colleton Primary School’s May Fayre, which raised approximately £4000 towards new playground equipment for their Younger Team playground. I look forward to returning soon to meet with teachers and discuss how I can continue championing schools Westminster.
19 May 2026Health & NHScelebratoryThe Breast cancer charity 'Walk the Walk' began in 1996, founded by Wokingham resident Nina Barough CBE. It was a pleasure to meet Nina again at this year’s MoonWalk. Nicky and I joined the 10km walk to help raise awareness and support everyone affected by this disease.
18 May 2026Social CaremeasuredIt was a pleasure visiting Bluebird Care in Twyford and seeing the high-quality home care they provide to our community. We discussed the challenges facing the social care sector and the urgent need for stronger national support, which is something I will continue to push for in Westminster.
15 May 2026Health & NHSmeasuredThis week is Mental Health Awareness Week, with this year's theme being "Action". The Liberal Democrats believe that mental health must be treated with the same seriousness as physical health. The Government must listen to the Lib Dem's calls for healthcare reform.
14 May 2026Health & NHSmeasuredMetastatic breast cancer is a stage 4 cancer that has spread. Sadly, only 25% of people diagnosed will survive for 5 years or more. Ashley Dalton MP and I met Breast Cancer Network Australia, Breast Cancer Now, and Rethink Breast Cancer Canada to discuss improving data collection for the disease.
14 May 2026Health & NHScelebratorySteve McManus, CEO of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust for nearly 10 years, is officially retiring this week after an incredible four decades of service in the NHS. I’ve had the privilege of working with Steve for many years, and I wish him the best for his next venture.
13 May 2026Economy & Jobs (General)celebratoryYesterday, I spoke on a panel at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Growth Conference about the challenges facing local businesses. It was fantastic to hear directly from business owners about the issues they face, and to meet with the former Chief Economist of the Bank of England.
7 May 2026EducationmeasuredA very productive meeting with the Wokingham Primary Headteachers Association yesterday to discuss how I can champion our schools in Westminster. Thank you to all who shared your concerns with me, from better SEND support to staff retention. These issues must be addressed by the Government.
6 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredAs your MP, I’m committed to securing the responses you deserve from the Government on your concerns and issues. Despite repeated follow-ups, some constituents have waited over 12 weeks for a reply from the Department for Work and Pensions. I will keep pushing until this is resolved.
30 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingangryThe recent attack on the Jewish community in Golders Green this week is abhorrent. There is absolutely no room for antisemitism anywhere in the UK. British Jews deserve to live safely in our country, and this cannot continue.
29 Apr 2026Housing & PlanningmeasuredWhen park home residents sell their homes, they must handover 10% of the sale price to the site owner. Today, I backed the Park Home Owners Justice Campaign and called for change to end this unfair treatment of homeowners.
28 Apr 2026Cost of LivingmeasuredLocal businesses and residents are facing soaring fuel prices in the face of Donald Trump’s illegal war in Iran. The Liberal Democrats are urging for change from the Government, including a 10p cut to fuel duty which would save you £6.60 when filling up a 55-litre tank.
28 Apr 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryA fantastic day celebrating the Rams Rugby Club’s recent win at Old Bath Road and meeting the players and support staff. The Rams won by a 20-point landslide in their final match of the English National League 1 Season. A very well earned win. Photo Credit: Paul Curtis
24 Apr 2026EducationcelebratoryThis week, I wrote an Early Day Motion to be sent to Parliament asking the House to celebrate this fantastic news. Thanks to the hard work of pupils and the high-quality schools in Wokingham, our children have a bright future ahead of them.
23 Apr 2026Health & NHScelebratoryAfter I raised parliamentary questions on behalf of my constituent Nii Okyne the UK Government commissioned the first Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition Rapid Review on vitamin D requirements for people with higher levels of melanin. I’m pleased the Government is taking this issue seriously.
22 Apr 2026Health & NHSmeasuredInvasive Lobular Breast Cancers make up 15% of all breast cancers diagnosed in the UK. But there is still no specific treatment for the disease yet. Today, I joined the Lobular Moon Shot Project’s call for better investment, better research and better outcomes for people diagnosed with the disease.
22 Apr 2026Health & NHScelebratoryOur Journey with Lobular Breast Cancer” is a powerful documentary sharing the stories of Susan and other women facing this disease with courage and resilience. Premiering tonight at 7pm on Together TV (Sky), this is an important and moving film that deserves to be seen. #InvasiveLobularCancer
22 Apr 2026Cost of LivingangryTrump’s illegal war in Iran is worsening the cost-of-living crisis and it is hitting residents hard. The Liberal Democrats are calling for 12p off of fuel, a 10% train fare cut, and a £1 bus fare cap to keep costs under control. It’s time the Government listens to us.
21 Apr 2026Health & NHSempatheticThis week is MS Awareness Week. MS is unpredictable and affects everyone differently. The theme is challenging MS assumptions and the impact these misconceptions can have. If you’re living with MS in Wokingham, I’m here to listen so please get in touch. #MSThinkAgain @mssocietyuk.bsky.social
20 Apr 2026Health & NHSmeasuredThe National Cancer Plan committed to appointing a Rare Cancers Clinical Lead and Research Lead, but no timeframe was given. These new roles would help improve outcomes for people with rare cancers. So I urged the Gov to update us on the progress of this important appointment.
20 Apr 2026Health & NHScelebratoryCancer research is key to delivering new innovations that will benefit patients. Researchers in Scotland have made amazing progress so far, but they need more support from the UK. I called on the Gov to support @cancerresearchuk.org’s manifesto to increase research funding in Scotland.
20 Apr 2026Social CaremeasuredGood care includes accountability. If a complaint about adult social care has not been resolved, the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman can provide an independent review at no cost. www.lgo.org.uk
20 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingangryThe government is giving the police unprecedented powers to restrict or prohibit protests they deem too disruptive. This is an attack on our democracy and our rights, and leaves the door open to more authoritarian actions by future governments. This cannot be left unchecked.
20 Apr 2026Economy & Jobs (General)measuredLast week, I met with some tech start-ups who are working at the forefront of the UK’s innovative sector. These entrepreneurial SMEs want to thrive, and can benefit our economy and create jobs. But many SMEs feel constrained, and need better support from the government now.
20 Apr 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryIt was a delight to visit Chaffinch Class at Finchampstead Primary School last week to talk about the letters they wrote to me supporting Water Aid. These bright, socially-conscious young people are determined to make positive change in the world and give me hope for the future.
18 Apr 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredThe Infected Blood Compensation Authority was meant to be life-changing for those affected by the scandal. Instead, many are yet to receive compensation or felt pressured to accept unsatisfactory offers. I asked the Minister to meet to resolve my affected constituent's concerns.
18 Apr 2026EducationcelebratoryThis week I visited local secondary schools and a primary school - the pupils and staff were impressive! In Parliament I spoke in important policing and pensions debates, and asked the Health Secretary about the RBH maintenance backlog. Here's what else I did this week:
14 Apr 2026Health & NHSmeasuredLast week, the RBH was given £10million to fund a new hospital site. This is a drop in the ocean compared to the £400million needed for the hospital's maintenance until its rebuild in 2039. So I called on the Health Sec to support the RBH and help fix the its current issues.
