11 Feb 2026Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 1503)

I wonder if I could ask you why you think the proportion of donors between 18 and 25 has doubled in the past 10 years? Does the fact that there is an increase in younger women raise any concerns for you?

The HFEA guidance says that egg donors should be under 35, apart from in exceptional circumstances, but around 15% of egg donors between 2011 and 2020 were 36 and over. Why is this? Does the age of the donor present any specific or significant health risks?

Briefly, going back to the first bit, do you think this is an area where we need more research and need to find out more? Why are younger women coming forward?

Are you thinking just something that would say, “Please be aware that there are psychosocial implications before you consider,” that sort of thing?

I like bold.

Just on the implications of the donation, the amount of the donation, and whether it actually makes a difference, what is the evidence from Scotland on donor recruitment? There is no compensation offered in Scotland for donating. What do you think the evidence from there suggests?

11 Feb 2026Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 1503)

Angela, do you think there is any evidence from Scotland that can be gleaned?

11 Feb 2026Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 1503)

If you could, that would be very useful. I have just one last thing. You have already touched on the idea of it being very different going through months of preparation and counselling for donation and going in and buying paracetamol. But if you could just lay out for us, how clinics ensure that their marketing practic

Ippokratis, what impact does the current level of compensation have on donor recruitment?

11 Feb 2026Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 1503)

Would I be right in taking from what you say that there is a public awareness and an availability aspect to this, which is different from advertising a product? It is about putting women who might want to donate—for whatever reason—together with the facilities, which is a different thing.

How do clinic staff screen—if they screen—for financial pressures, including with egg sharing, and so on? Do you think it is done effectively at the moment?

4 Feb 2026 Fast-Track Visas: Skilled US Citizens

I beg to move, That this House has considered the potential merits of fast-track visas for skilled US citizens. It is a pleasure to serve with you in the Chair, Ms Lewell. I would like to share an email I recently received: “All I’m asking for is a direction to march in, as I am in fact a refugee seeking asylum from a

4 Feb 2026 Fast-Track Visas: Skilled US Citizens

I completely agree. We need a system that allows people to come here—not just from the United States, but more generally. People in the United States have the skills we need in the industries that so much of our economy will be dependent on: artificial intelligence, cancer research, pharmacology, science and the growin

4 Feb 2026 Fast-Track Visas: Skilled US Citizens

I completely agree. There is a danger to our international reputation, as well as our economy, if we become somewhere people cannot trust that. If they make the life-changing decision to come here, invest in our country, work for our economy, and contribute through tax and national insurance, we should not turn around

4 Feb 2026Teenagers’ Use of Social Media

In Australia, the Government are playing a game of whack-a-mole as they struggle to keep up with young people switching between social media sites and new apps that have just been brought on board. I have spoken to people in the industry here and to parents who say that a blanket ban is not working. Will the Government

Q13. I associate myself with the comments of my party leader about Lord Wallace, a man whom I was privileged to know. Conversations are taking place in the Chamber today and up and down the country about Peter Mandelson and his involvement with the paedophile who trafficked women. Given that millions of women, particul

To drill down into that a bit more, would you say that that service is now fully operational, or are there aspects of the service which are still aspirational? When do you think you will be in a position to be able to say that all your services are fully operational?

You talked about the work that you have already done with the BBC, ITV and various independent production companies. Are you having more success in getting people to come forward to you now than perhaps previously?

Zelda, do you want to add anything in particular about what someone who has been pressured to sign an NDA might be looking for from CIISA?
