14 May 2026Agriculture & Rural Economymeasured🐠 Proud to be celebrating Cornwall's centuries-old fishing industry today as part of #Fish24! It's a 24-hour social media celebration of the UK's fishing and seafood industry, highlighting an industry that has unfortunately been overlooked by government after government.
13 May 2026Local Governmentangry🚨📩 Today I’ve written jointly with Cllr Rosie Moore to the Chief Exec of Royal Mail, demanding urgent action to reinstate the postbox in Trelights.
12 May 2026Cost of Livingangry🚨 〓〓 My North Cornwall constituents face a cost of fuel crisis. With petrol & diesel costs having skyrocketed since Trump’s illegal invasion of Iran, the prices of everything from food to clothes have also shot up as a result. 📈
11 May 2026Culture & Communitycelebratory📚 It was a real pleasure to meet the team behind Storybook Dads, a wonderful charity that helps children maintain relationships with their parents in prison via storytelling.
10 May 2026MP & Parliamentcelebratory🚨📉 With the Tories and Labour having completely collapsed right across the country in this week’s local elections, it’s clear that the Liberal Democrats are now the main opposition fighting against NIGEL FARAGE and Reform. ❌
6 May 2026Educationmeasured🚨📚 STATEMENT ON LAUNCESTON COLLEGE / ATHENA LEARNING TRUST NEWS
6 May 2026Economy & Jobs (General)measuredLearn more about the fund here: www.cornwall.gov.uk/kernowindust...
6 May 2026Economy & Jobs (General)celebratory〓〓 🚨 Cornwall’s new £30m Kernow Industrial Growth Fund has officially been launched! This is a big step forward for Cornwall’s economy, following the meeting I secured with Treasury Ministers towards the end of last year ⬇️ ⬇️
5 May 2026Culture & Communitycelebratory🏊‍♂️ Fantastic to visit Fitness 4 U Cornwall in St Columb Major, which is a local swim school doing vital work for the community here in North Cornwall. They help adults, children, and babies learn to swim, and also provide specialist aquatic therapy and rehabilitation support.
5 May 2026Culture & Communitycelebratory☀️ 🍲 It was great to be at the first 'Bodmin Feast' of the summer, to see all the food and drink options from brilliant local businesses (thanks to Lipsmackers for the nacho chilli bowl! 🌮) Make sure to stop by on the first Friday of the month if you get the chance. 🙂
30 Apr 2026Utilities & Watermeasured🚨✍️ CAMELFORD WATER POISONING: I recently wrote to the Water Minister requesting the full release of Government records relating to the 1988 Lowermoor water poisoning scandal.
29 Apr 2026Defence & Securitymeasured〓〓 🚁 CORNWALL SEARCH AND RESCUE: I raised urgent concerns brought to me by a Cornish Search & Rescue organisation, about new rules that could hit these teams hard. 👇
29 Apr 2026MP & Parliamentmeasured🚨 Yesterday I voted FOR a parliamentary investigation into the Starmer / Mandelson issue. We cannot pick and choose when accountability matters. Parliament held Boris Johnson to account, and now we must be prepared to do the same if there are concerns that the House was misled.
28 Apr 2026Defence & Securitymeasured🎖️ Last night I voted against ‘carrying over’ the Northern Ireland Troubles Bill, as it doesn’t currently provide enough protections for our veterans or the legal certainty they need.
28 Apr 2026Local Governmentangry🚨 〓〓 Last night I joined Andrew George MP in voting AGAINST the Government’s attempt to give itself the power to MERGE Cornwall with Devon, or any other authority. ❌ It is completely unacceptable, and I made that very clear in the House during the debate. 👇
27 Apr 2026Health & NHSmeasured🚨🏥 INFRASTRUCTURE FIRST: I recently met with the Deputy Manager of Wadebridge's GP practise, and the Patient Group, to hear their concerns. Of course providing housing for residents should be a priority - but we need to properly plan, and invest, in healthcare infrastructure.
24 Apr 2026Culture & Communitycelebratory〓〓 🎉 Today marks 12 years since the Cornish people officially secured National Minority Status. Back in 2014, this recognition gave Cornwall the same status as our Scottish, Welsh, and Irish cousins, protecting our culture, identity and language.
23 Apr 2026Educationcelebratory📚 It was wonderful to have pupils and teachers from Mawgan-in-Pydar Primary School come visit Parliament this week, where I had the opportunity to speak to the children about being an MP, and take part in a Q&A. 🙂
23 Apr 2026Health & NHSangry🚨 Palantir: Hands off our NHS data! ❌ So many North Cornwall constituents have reached out to me about US tech firm Palantir, with serious concerns around Government contracts being awarded to them involving patient data with NHS England, and even the MOD. 👇
22 Apr 2026Local Governmentangry〓〓 🚨 Last night in Parliament I made it very clear: Cornwall says NO to any Devon / Cornwall merger. I stood up to speak on behalf of my constituents on the English Devolution Bill, in which the Government has made no legal protections for Cornwall whatsoever. 👎
21 Apr 2026Culture & Communitycelebratory🚨 It was a pleasure to welcome the brilliant Bodmin-based KBSK up to Parliament today! 🙂 The youth charity supports so many of North Cornwall's young people using dance, creativity and more to build confidence, support their mental health, and provide a safe space through their centre.
21 Apr 2026Educationcelebratory🚨 📲 Almost 9 out of 10 of parents support keeping smartphones out of schools - which is why I'm glad this Government has finally listened to them, and will introduce a new law to help keep kids focussed in the classrooms. 👇
20 Apr 2026Health & NHSmeasuredPlease take part in the government consultation by following the link: www.gov.uk/government/c...
20 Apr 2026Health & NHSempathetic🚨 I'm backing a change in the law following the sudden tragic death of a five-year-old boy. In 2021, Benedict Blythe very sadly died after experiencing a very severe allergic reaction at his primary school.
2 Apr 2026Cost of Livingcelebratory🔶🚨 Proud that we @libdems.org.uk are leading the fight against the cost of living, in the wake of Trump's illegal war in Iran. Our plans will save the average North Cornwall constituent, for example, £6.60 PER TANK of diesel, will cut rail fares by 10%, and slash bus fares by £1. ✅
2 Apr 2026MP & Parliamentcelebratory🚨〓〓 North Cornwall CASEWORK UPDATE for March! My team and I resolved over 1,100+ North Cornwall constituent cases last month, on issues ranging from pensions, to SEND provision, hospital appointments, and much more. Please email via ben.maguire.mp@parliament.uk!🙂
1 Apr 2026Health & NHScelebratory🚁 Those living here in the Duchy know just how vital the Cornwall Air Ambulance is. I’m glad to be working cross-party with Jayne Kirkham MP to ensure safe and swift transfers at Treliske Hospital. I’ll be writing to the Council following our visit to the Helipad. ✅
31 Mar 2026MP & Parliamentmeasured🤝 Great to be out and about on the doorsteps of Bodmin recently with Cllr. Dan Rogerson, chatting to lots of residents about some of the issues they’re facing at the moment (both local & national) that they want me to work on up in Parliament on their behalf.
30 Mar 2026Local Governmentangry〓〓 🚨 UPDATE on Devolution for Cornwall: Yet again, Cornwall seems to miss out on proper recognition by this Government - and I will be voting AGAINST the Bill if it fails to take our unique culture, heritage, and National Minority Status into account.
30 Mar 2026MP & Parliamentmeasured🚨 A quick update on my some of my recent work on behalf of North Cornwall 👇 -- As always, please get in touch via ben.maguire.mp@parliament.uk for any casework my team & I might be able to help with! 🙂
