In August, the Minister for the Overseas Territories met all of the elected Leaders of the Overseas Territories via video call.

As a leading donor to the Rohingya refugee response, the UK Government has provided over £391 million in Bangladesh to the Rohingya and host communities since 2017. We are committed to supporting the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh including ongoing support to protection services. Our High Commissioner in Dhaka continues to raise this issue with the Interim Government in Bangladesh. We will continue to work closely with UN agencies to provide basic services to Rohingya refugees while they remain in Bangladesh. Despite escalating conflict and ongoing access challenges, we are supporting those most in need through agile local partners.

The Foreign Secretary has visited Israel and discussed the security situation with Prime Minister Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Katz. We continue to urge Israeli and other regional actors to engage with the US-led discussions to reach a political settlement and resolve tensions diplomatically. A widening of the conflict is in nobody's interest. The Government is working in lockstep with our allies to de-escalate tensions and urge all parties to end the destructive cycle of retaliatory violence.

The UK is committed to defending freedom of religion of belief for all communities in Myanmar. We continue to support religious minorities, including Christians, and raise our concerns over discrimination against them in international fora. In April, we co-sponsored a UN Human Rights Council resolution on Myanmar which stressed the need to address the root causes of human rights violations and abuses against ethnic and religious minority groups. We are providing support to the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar and established the Myanmar Witness programme to collect evidence of human rights violations, including identity-based violence.

The Prime Minister; Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport; Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Sport, Media, Civil Society and Youth; and I [Minister Doughty] attended the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where I met with Team GB. There will be further ministerial visits for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

HMS Trent visited the Cayman Islands immediately after Hurricane Beryl. As Hurricane Beryl had a limited impact upon the Cayman Islands, HMS Trent was not required to support the local recovery. HMS Trent and Cayman used the opportunity to grow shared understanding and awareness ahead of potential future hurricane responses.The UK continues to stand ready to support the British Overseas Territories to respond to hurricanes, maintaining an array of response plans to be able to provide civil, military, and/or commercial support in response to requests for assistance.
