20 May 2026Energy & Net ZerocelebratoryData from @octopus.energy shows demand for solar panels and heat pumps is up. The public is embracing renewables and it is welcome news. But the market alone can't fix the energy transition. It's right and necessary that our Labour Government is stepping up. Excerpt from my speech yesterday 👇
20 May 2026Tax & Public FinancescelebratoryThe plan is working. Six interest rate cuts in the first two years of a Labour government, with inflation falling again this morning. Chief economist at the ONS on the drivers of falling inflation.... "This was due to the government's energy bill support package".
19 May 2026Energy & Net ZeroangryIn the Commons today, Clare Coutinho confirmed to me that she has, "changed her mind" and given up on Net Zero. Genuinely sad to see them abandon the green agenda to chase Reform votes. The future is clean, green and renewable energy. Our Labour Government gets it. The Conservatives have lost it.
16 May 2026OthermeasuredIn my first two years in parliament, I have argued consistently for closer UK/EU ties The PM & Chancellor have made significant progress in rebuilding our relationship and have my support to continue to do so. Last month, I wrote at length about where I hope we go next substack.com/profile/3292...
14 May 2026Economy & Jobs (General)celebratoryI've been hitting the airwaves today, reaffirming my support for the Prime Minister. The economy grew above expectations and NHS waiting lists are down. We should be focusing on telling the story of how we are turning around the country, not turning in on ourselves. youtu.be/Q_s-uL8IniI?...
14 May 2026Economy & Jobs (General)celebratoryThe UK economy is growing and defied the forecasts. GDP this quarter up by more than any other country in the G7. The plan is working. Our Labour Government has a turnaround story to tell. It makes it all the more self-defeating that we have turned in on ourselves. www.ons.gov.uk/economy/gros...
13 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredA new day in Westminster. The King's Speech is a moment to come together behind a Labour legislative programme. From strengthening the UK/EU relationship, bringing the leasehold system to an end, to how we can accelerate to energy independence. It's not time for a leadership election 👇
12 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredProud to be one of the signatories. Standing with colleagues across the country who agree this is absolutely not the time for a leadership contest. The last 48 hours have been a gift to our opponents. Time to get behind the Prime Minister and focus on delivery in the next parliamentary session.
12 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredIf we push out the Prime Minister, a chaotic leadership election would inevitably follow. It would be a gift to our political opponents and the public would not forgive us. I sincerely hope that colleagues think again. news.sky.com/video/think-...
11 May 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredI am asking colleagues not to walk into a trap. A leadership contest now would be a gift to our opponents and do long-term damage to the Labour Party and more importantly, the country. The PM has my support and I've penned the below after watching his speech 👇 substack.com/profile/3292...
11 May 2026Othercelebratory"An ambitious youth experience scheme, a symbol of a renewed relationship with our closest allies." The words of the Prime Minister a moment ago. I've been campaigning for a closer UK/EU deal since the moment I entered parliament. Great to hear the PM make this central to his case to the country.
10 May 2026Cost of LivingmeasuredAgreed, we have to discuss all of this. Politics isn't a place for people just wanting comfortable debate. Only word of caution on your YouGov link is that it shows people answering on their, "top 3" issues. When pushed to pick one, the cost of living invariably comes out as number one.
9 May 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryThis is an excellent piece. Patrick writes with modesty and accepts that other pollsters may come to different conclusions, but from all the LE2026 data, it's very clear we've lost more Labour votes to the Greens than Reform. Must read for all of us who want to rebuild a winning Labour coalition.
8 May 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredLabour is still the largest party on Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. Proud of candidates and campaigners who fought an excellent campaign. It could have been better still. Three wards lost narrowly to Reform because of small numbers voting Green. Am determined we win back those voters and seats.
6 May 2026EducationmeasuredHello Jo. This is the first I have heard of this news. If you're involved with the University in any capacity, grateful if you, or a colleague could send me an email with more details. I'll certainly be looking into it. andrew.lewin.mp@parliament.uk
6 May 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryVery proud of the positive and authentic local Labour campaign we have fought in Welwyn Hatfield these last few months. Vote Labour tomorrow 🌹
3 May 2026Defence & SecuritycelebratoryI continue to be in awe at the bravery, skill and resilience of the Ukrainian people. As theu fight for their freedom, they deserve as much support as we can possibly provide. Proud our PM is working with our allies in the EU to scale this up even further. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
30 Apr 2026Crime & PolicingangryThe attacks in Golders Green were antisemitic and nothing short of evil. A brief statement below.
29 Apr 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryMy first session of Parliament wrapped 67 contributions in the Commons & 462 votes! NHS waiting lists down. The Minimum wage up in real terms. Stronger rights for renters & workers. Rail fares frozen and the launch of GB Railways Lots done, lots more to do. Westminster: see you in a fortnight.
27 Apr 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredHi Ashley I am going to check-in with my team today and promise to get a reply back to you within a week. The office reveives hundreds of emails per day, so I don't see most of them personally. We did have a productive meeting and I look forward to continuing our conversation.
26 Apr 2026Technology & DigitalangrySocial media algorithms are rewarding disinformation and stoking division. Marianna Spring is excellent and this is an alarming read on what has gone on in Epsom. In government, we need to constantly challenge ourselves on this issue. This can't keep going unchecked www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
21 Apr 2026Energy & Net ZeromeasuredWe can't afford to be so reliant on fossil fuels. Trump's War has proven that beyond any doubt. On a windswept House of Comons Terrace, I welcomed some of the actions the Labour Government announced today to accelerate the transition to cheap, green energy.
16 Apr 2026Health & NHScelebratoryThe discovery, production and rollout of Covid vaccines in UK found to have saved approximately 475,000 lives. Government, scientists, civil society working together to a common goal. This deserves to be celebrated as a historic collective achievement. covid19.public-inquiry.uk/wp-content/u...
14 Apr 2026Othermeasured3/3 This is about more than the technicalities of a UK/Swiss style deal. I believe it falls on this generation of Labour MPs, and this Labour government to rebuild our alliances and reimagine what is possible in our relationship with the EU. The full essay is here substack.com/profile/3292...
14 Apr 2026Immigrationmeasured2/3 Thank you to @jessicaelgot.bsky.social for covering. As Jess says, my essay looks at the UK/EU relationship. Immigration is falling sharply & 2026 is very different to 2024. The case for a Swiss style access to the single market becomes stronger each day. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
14 Apr 2026Economy & Jobs (General)measured1/3 Proud to have worked with brilliant colleagues on this collection of essays. With populism rising, the global order shifting and the affordability crisis deepening - the stakes are high. We set out our ideas for how the Labour Government can meet the moment. fabians.org.uk/publication/...
13 Apr 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredPresident Trump has had at least 3 positions on the Strait. First, he wasn't interested in it as the US, 'didn't need it.' Second, a 'joint venture' with Iran was on the table. Now, a blockade. In the Commons, I called this out and thanked our PM for spending his time on diplomacy, not social media.
8 Apr 2026Energy & Net ZerocelebratoryThe 25th large scale clean power project approved by our Labour Government. When they are all operational, they will power upto 12.5 million homes. Whatever happens, this will be one of the legacies of this government. A renewable energy revolution. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
8 Apr 2026Housing & Planningcelebratory🏘 In Welwyn Hatfield, our Labour led council just completed on this council house development. A really high quality scheme in WGC. Homes are EPC B or EPC A and there are EV charging points too. Doing everything we can to keep our council Labour led - so we can keep delivering schemes like this.
1 Apr 2026Health & NHScelebratorySo pleased for my friend Ben. One of the very best people in parliament. 🔔
