Apr 2026

Represented by Con since 2024. Covers Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury (Wiltshire). Population 104,337. Recorded crime is 36% below the national average.

A long-serving Conservative with a medical background, Murrison made his most notable recent deviations from his party over tobacco and vaping legislation -- voting with the Labour government at both Second and Third Reading of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, bucking the Conservative majority both times. His public health credentials (he practiced as a Navy doctor and led vaccination teams during the pandemic) make this a principled rather than opportunistic break. More recently he has raised fire station closures in his constituency at PMQs and introduced a private member's bill -- covered by both the BBC and local press -- to block a waste incinerator in South West Wiltshire, a campaign sustained over several years that has attracted cross-party support.

At 78% participation and 99% party-line voting, Murrison is a reliable but not uncritical Conservative voice. He is solidly anti-tax and consistently pro-business, aligned 100% on both stances, and scores 100% on parliamentary scrutiny -- including backing a Lords amendment that would have pushed broader democratic reform of the upper chamber. His speeches cluster heavily around economy and jobs (36 contributions) and defence (31), the latter reflecting a long-standing specialist interest. He sits below his party average on assisted dying access, suggesting a more cautious position on that issue than many colleagues.
