A new constituency created in the 2023 boundary review. Won by SNP in its first election in 2024 by 2.2%.

Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey's SNP MP has been most visible recently as a vocal opponent of the Labour government's employer National Insurance rises, backing multiple House of Lords amendments in March 2026 that sought to protect businesses and pension schemes from the increases -- all of which the government defeated. He has also voted in favour of freezing fuel duty and stronger online child safety measures, and consistently sides with opposition efforts to scrutinise government legislation. His local advocacy has drawn press attention on several fronts: campaigning for a VAT cut for the hospitality sector, challenging Bank of Scotland over the closure of Nairn's last bank branch, and pressing ministers on rural driving test backlogs and the North of Scotland's energy price disadvantage.

Leadbitter's parliamentary participation rate of 30% (141 of 466 votes) is significantly below the Commons average -- though SNP MPs' attendance patterns are often shaped by the party's stance on Westminster business. Where he does vote, he follows the SNP line without exception. His stance profile leans against tax increases (76% aligned), towards workers' rights (70%) and parliamentary scrutiny (86% and 89% on Lords and opposition scrutiny measures respectively), but notably away from progressive taxation positions (24%). His speeches -- 178 contributions across 113 debates -- concentrate heavily on economy, energy, transport and cost of living, consistent with his rural Highland constituency's concerns and his role as the SNP's Energy Spokesperson.
